Happy Birthday, Harm Harm!

My mom had plans to fly in on Dec 20th, and spend Christmas with me. I got tickets for us to go see Billy Elliot, The Rockettes, and Alter Boyz for Christmas. Unfortunately, the Saturday before she got here, there was a blizzard and all the airports in the area canceled all their flights. That also sucked for all the kids moving out of 305 that weekend. Everybody was kinda of stuck. My mom's flight was also canceled and because of the surplus of people on the waiting list, she couldn't get a flight out until the 23rd. Which sucked mostly because the $300 I had spent on Broadway shows were for the 21, 22, and 23. They all say Non-Transferable, so I was kinda freaking out about that. But, long story short, after a long day of stressing and standing in lines, most of the box offices were cool about letting me exchange the tickets. After that little bout of stress, I blew off some steam on Tues, Dec. 21: Harmony Joy's Birthday!

Harmony and I met at CSF and spent a lot of time over the summer together. She spent last semester studying in London, and on her way back to Santa Fe, she made a pit stop in NYC just in time for Kellie's last weekend and her 21st bday. (This is where you should stop reading, Mom, Dad....Ok....But don't say I didn't warn you....) The night started at Blockheads where they have famous (or should I say, infamous) $3 margaritas. After about $12 worth, we were ready to move on to the next bar. I suggested my friend's in Greenwich, which is kind of a funny story in itself. I went to this bar once back in Sept, and Kevin and Kellie because I knew the bartender, and I have attempted to find it on multiple occasions since, but we coulndn't. I was so confused since we had told the cab driver, "Corner of Greenwhich and Christopher" an we got there just fine, but ever since, whenever we go to that intersection, we spend over an hour walking around looking for it. We started referring it to as Brigadoon. Some time in Dec, we discovered there is a Greenwhich Ave and St (or something like that.) Anyway, I was pretty sure I knew how to get there now, hence I suggested it. When we got off the subway at Christopher Street, my bladder notified me that I must find a bathroom STAT! There were a few random cafes that wouldn't let me use the bathroom, and then I saw a Tattoo Parlor. I lead the way, knowing no burly, tattoo covered man could refuse three cute girls a bathroom. I was right, even the not-so-burly, kinda cute, tattoo covered guy said so. Anyway, since they guy was cute and flirting with me, I didn't really want to leave. So I said, "Hey, lets get something pierced!" Harmony got a part of inside of her ear, Kellie got her Tragus, and I got my nose!

We left because Harmony had to "Get her drink on" and she wanted a Cosmo for her birthday. We stumbled into a bar across the street and I saw a big bowl full of NYC condoms. I asked the guy sitting next to me, Tommy (who bought Harmony her bday cosmo and later became my best friend) "Do all bars have these condoms?" The tattoo shop also had them. And he said, "I know at least gay bars do." I said, "Are we in a gay bar?" "You sure are, Honey" he replied, I looked around to see only men, and turned to Kellie and Harmony and yelled, "Guys! We're in a gay bar!" After talking Broadway with Tommy, Harmony and Kellie wanted to go find Tony's. Good news is we found it. Bad news is, it was closed. I have NO idea what time it was at that point, but I still thought it was pretty early to close. Harmony took it upon herself to hail a cab and we prematurely ended up at home. We wanted to go back out so we went to Chelsea Square Restruant to get some of their A+ french toast. I guess we hit the hay sometime after that since I had to be up at 9 am to clean out all the rooms. The only ones left were the RA's and a couple people who's flights had been canceled.
Sally was the last to leave, on Wed, but luckily, Mom got in that night, so I didn't have to spend any nights alone, which I realized as the house got emptier and emptier would be pretty spooky.
Mom's visit was nice. It was relaxing. Did some shopping and sight seeing, but most of the time was spent in doors. I adopted a new sleep pattern of sleeping till 11am, which I've never done before. I'm usually such a morning person. And the weather was crappy so we didn't stay out late. I suppose it was relaxing except for the house drama, which you can read for yourself in the post below this...so, I'll let you go do that....
